Mer Girl
A sincere, mature, artistic effort from Madonna. And she can sing! After living in London for some time, she
absorbed the scene there and embraced melodic house music. This is a brilliant album, something I thought
I'd never say in regards to Madonna. Too bad she couldn't stretch it past one record, though, because this
new direction was exciting.

Bleu and Mike Viola (Candybutchers) have put together a FANTASTIC Power Pop trio. This sucker
rocks, and the elongated track aside, clocks in at about 30 minutes. Some of the greatest music you've ever
heard is right here.

More BritPop, and they could have made it, too. They almost had what it takes, but not quite. Still a good

Wonderful Power Pop and they even scored a major coup by having Andy Sturmer (Jellyfish) play drums for
them on this CD! How much more of a ringing endorsement can a band get? Great stuff! Plus, there's a
bonus EP of track sfrom their first album. Cool!

Little Creature
Another great Cleveland-area punk pop band in the 80's signed to the Herb Jackson stable. Word was
that if you wanted a record deal, sign with Herb. The price would only be your soul, and many bands found
out the hard way. Still, if it weren't for Herb I wouldn't have some great local 80s music (Terrible Parade,
The Silence
, The Attitude) like this.

Microdisney
Crooked Mile
1986 Virgin Records
Town to Town
Amgels
Our Children
Mrs. Simpson
Hey Hey Sam
Give Me All Your Clothes
Armadillo Man
Bullwhip Road
And He Descended Into Hell
Rack
Big Sleeping House
People Just Want to Dream
A rather nondescript mid-80s English pop group - one of many, but it does have a certain charm to it.
Reminds me of college and trying to change the world from corporate rock to something more substantial
when I was learning how to become a DJ. Yes, back when radio still meant something. Anyway, this isn't
bad, it isn't great . . . would rather listen to Aztec Camera, but Microdisney has its good points as well.

The Mighty Lemon

Out of Hand
Going Under
Count Me Out
My Biggest Thrill (live)
Splash # One (Now I'm Home)
Rollercoaster
Hypnotised (live)
The Other Side of You (live)
A great Liverpool band during the 80s that was overshadowed by Echo & the Bunnymen and the rest of the
New Wave movement. Great record, though.

Down On a Thistle
1999 Missile Toe Records

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer

Little Drummer Boy
Blue Christmas
Jingle Bell Rock
Frosty the Snowman
Silent Night
Holly Jolly Christmas
Run Rudolph Run
Gloria
Auld Lang Syne
Punk versions of Christmas carols. What a great idea! Made up of members of local Akron-Cleveland
bands such as Planet Log 3000, CD Truth, The Nimrods, and Peep. Plus, their Christmas in July shows
are killer! Punk versions of rock 'n' roll classics. Brilliant! Only in Northeast Ohio!

Monkey Rhythm

This Must Be the Place
Heaven's Gate

A trio out of San Francisco, these guys rocked! Wonder whatever happened to them . . . ?

Poor Keith. Without The Who he was lost. And since they were taking an extended break in 1975, that's
just what he was -- lost. So what do you do when you're a rcih rock star in the 70s and yuo're bored out of
your mind? You record an album! Just get a bunch of your mates together with a few truckloads of alcohol
and you're all set! Unfortunately, your record will sound like you recorded it while drunk, but who cares?
You're a rich rock star in the 70s! (See Ringo's Rotogravure) Still a fun album to have, but only if you're a
serious collector.

Crazy Old World
INCREDIBLE! WHAT A BAND! Of course, I loved them dearly,so they only put out one record and promptly
broke up. Intelligent, fun Power Pop that even was featured on a car commercial in '95 ('Hear'). Man, I miss
this band.

Morrissey had madea name for himself as a solo artist by this point, but for me he's nothing without The
Smiths
. That being said, this is still a pretty good record.

Tom Petty resurrected his band before the Heartbreakers and released their first album, over 30 years
after he broke them up. What a cool way to apologize and honor his past. Petty's music may not do much for
me anymore, but ya gotta admit the guy has class. And this collection of country rockers is not bad at all.
