Modern
English After the Snow 1983 Sire Records | Someone's
Calling Life in the Gladhouse Face of Wood Dawn Chorus | I
Melt with You After the Snow Carry Me Down Tables Turning
This
has THE major hit of the New Wave in 'I Melt with You,' which is still an incredibly
powerful and romantic song 20+ years later. What always intrigued me about Modern English was the coupling of hook-filled, radio friendly songs with (at times) almost ethereal soundscapes. Wonderful band.

An
incredibly fantastic album that nobody heard! What IS it with people? This record
is Modern English at their best. Melodic, poppy tunes along with those ever present intricate soundscapes. Brilliant!

I
welcome just about any Modern English release, even if it's contrived like
this one. Too poppy, too intent on being radio friendly, this one doesn't hit me like the other two. Not that it's bad, it's just too much of one approach. "Love Breaks Down" is a nice nod to their other capabilities, though.
