Todd's first solo record, finally free from the confines of Nazz. Some great pop tunes, a hint of things to
come ('We Gotta Get You a Woman') and some experimentation to keep the artist's soul intact.

A double album a couple years after a double album is never a good idea, especially if it follows an album
like A Wizard/A True Star. Outside of a few good tunes, Todd really dropped the ball on this one.

Y'know, I love Todd. I really do. But what was he thinking?? Listening to this record now in the 21st century -
I mean this was Spinal Tap before Spinal Tap! At least there's 'Real Man" on it.

Thank God Todd finally abandoned the prog rock shtick. It really wasn't working. With this record he got
back to where he once belonged (!) and churned out some very good / great power pop. The second side
of covers was a cool idea, too, but he stayed to close to the original versions for my liking. A little
experimentation would have been nice.

Absolutely brilliant. One of the rare times when art comes before commerce. Todd has always been a bit
commercial, knowing a good hook when he writes it. But this album is magnificent, with nary a commercial
hook to be found. In fact, the song that was released as a single was from the bonus 45 included. To hear
uncompromisingly beautiful music from the recent past, do yourself a favour and listen to this album.

Only Todd . . . every sound on this record his made form Todd's mouth. Pretentious? In the hands of some
other artists yes, but in Todd's case it is highly original and incredibly realized. Especially the single,
'Something to Fall Back On'. When you think about it, it is truly amazing that not one musical instrument
was used in the recording of this great record.

Trying to gain forgiveness for the dismal No World Order album, Todd tried to compromise by releasing an
album of actual songs, though most were paired with a dance/industrial-type beat. For a couple tunes this
would be okay, but for an entire album? I don't NOT like this album, but I'm not that fond of it, either.

Todd's a strange bird. He released this album, a collection of his past hits redone in the Bossa Nova style.

he keeps trying to do, but overall this is a good record.

Like I said, Todd is a strange bird. But love him or hate him, he's his own man and he sure is talented. This
one was released pretty much under the radar to little fanfare. Sad, really, because this is a strong record
with some great songs. If you're a Todd fan, pick this up.
