One of the quintessential hard rock acts of the 70s. Good tunes, but it still amazes me that 'Love Hurts' was
a hit (dismal song, horrid vocals). Go figure . . .

Intact
One of the 'Madchester' scene out of Manchester, England (late 80s - early 90s), along with the Stone
Roses
, Happy Mondays, and The Wonder Stuff. Innovative approach here, with two bass players in their
line-up. This gave their songs an added punch that not only rocked, but it made you want to dance, too.

In 1987, to cash in on the second wave of Monkeemania, Columbia Studios decided to have a new
Monkees TV show. Instead of hostiry repeating itself, they decoded to cast all musicians in the roles, no
actors like the original Monkees had. After failing to entice the Elvis Brothers (they refused to change their
name, so the studio passed), they signed four unknown musicians, one of whom (Larry Saltis) is a local
boy from Akron, Ohio, who later fronted the band Colorvine in the 90s. Anyway, the record is awful, I never
saw the show, and I love the album. Maybe it's the cheese quotient, I don't know. Anybody know where I can
get some of the episodes on tape? Anybody have some? E-mail me and let me know!

After Gregg Alexander (the brains behind the 'group') recorded and toured parts of Europe in support this
record, he quit the business. I think he basically said, 'been there, done that' and moved on. Gotta respect
that. Oh, and it's great record, too, full of confidence and bravado, but not pretentious in the least.

The album that changed the face of rock 'n' roll. At least that's what they say. I guess I'm just too old to
sanction this overstatement. An influential album? Sure - it commercialized the Grunge movement and
helped several other lesser-talented Seattle bands get signed. The most influential album ever made? My
eye! Sgt. Pepper owns that distinction. Grunge died and most likely will not be resurrected. The Beatles'
music is highly regarded to this day, and whenever any artist talks about their most ambitious work, they
inevitably call it ther 'Sgt. Pepper.' Never heard anyone refer to their work as their 'Nevermind.' Still, it is a
good record. And it did put an end to hair metal, so it can't be that bad . . .

Bob Nyswonger, the bass player for The Raisins, psychodots, and The Bears, FINALLY releases a solo
album! Pretty much a glorified demo, here's a collection of very catchy power pop tunes. Unfortunately, it's
also prrof that Bad Bob is by no means a singer and shows why he always has his bandmates sing his
songs. Still, the man can write a killer tune!
